Ghosts and Goblins wrap-up
We would like to thank all of the parents who helped make yesterday's Ghosts & Goblins meet a success! We simply couldn't have done it without your help timing, starting, and bringing in all of the wonderful food. Thank you too to the few parents who stuck around to help clean up. A few serving items were left behind (green salad bowl, tongs, wooden bowl, hot bag (Leddy??), clear serving spoon). They have all been placed in the team closet upstairs. Brent has the key to this closet so please ask him after practice to claim your items.
If you got a parking ticket yesterday and you have a valid parking pass, please send me your name, ticket number and vehicle ASAP. I am trying to have the tickets "cleared" with TCNJ.
Finally, a few families have not yet submitted their contracts and job requests. I am waiting to finish the Holiday Classic work assignments but cannot do so without those contracts. Please get them to Brent immediately.
Regards,
Meredith
*** Time Change ***** Sunday's Ghosts & Goblins meet at TCNJ will warm up at 4.00pm. The meet will commence at 4.30 PM.
We will need parents to help time, so please just let me know once you get there if you are able and willing. Brent will supply the stop watches. After the meet we will have a pot luck dinner as well as a Halloween parade led by Brent. All athletes and siblings wishing to bring their costumes and wear them for the parade are encouraged to do so!
We would also ask you to bring a carved pumpkin to add a bit of Halloween spirit to our festivities. They should be brought up to the balcony area along with your food contribution(s) upon arrival at the pool. If you have more than one athlete, or a large number of siblings, kindly consider bringing double the requested food/drink donation.
If your athlete is new to the team and especially if they are new to competitive swimming, let them know that this is a fun meet attended only by EEX swimmers and family. No need to be nervous!
Below is the list of requested food and drink donations:
Athlete last name beginning with:
A or B- one case of water and one 12 pack of 100% fruit juices
C - two bags of chips/pretzels and dip
D-G - Fruit, veggies or green salad
H-L - Main dish
M - Cheese and crackers
N-W - (except Stefandl) Dessert
Stefandl - 2 cases of sports drinks
Please remember to bring serving utensils and make sure your food donations is divided into individual serving sizes (if appropriate). See you there!

3) T-shirts, shorts, and hoodies are in. Meredith will have them Friday during practice (5-7 PM) and Sat morn during practice (8-9:30) in the hallway. If your athlete drives to practice, please remind them to come out into the hallway and get their clothing. Metro clothing and cap orders are not in yet
4) Please note permanent weekend practices times for AG1 and AG2 are 7:30-8:45 Saturdays and 8:30-9:30 Sundays

***** Update from Brent ********Bob Steele from USA Swimming will be with us for one more night. We'll have pizza tonight (Tue 20) at 6:30 so everyone (parents, swimmers, coaches) can meet at 7:00 for the presentation by Bob Steele of USA Swimming. We should be done by 8:00 (no much later than a normal night). Bob's presentation will be in the North Gym (somewhere in Packer - same building as the pool). Hope you can make it - should be a fun and interesting talk.
Note to swimmers/parents: even if you don't have practice tonight, come out for the pizza and the presentation!
Brent
Our team performance over the past several years has awarded EEX a visit from USA Swimming as part of their Elite Development Camp - Master Coach/Consultant Program.
Bob Steele (bio below) will be meeting with the coaches and interacting with athletes and coaches on deck over the next couple of days. On Tuesday night, I am hoping to have Bob speak to both athletes and parents - he has a presentation entitled, "Be The Best You Can Be" that applies to any swimmer from age groupers to Olympians and is for all parents, coaches and swimmers. I am working out the details with TCNJ (room, time, etc.), but anticipate getting started after practice at 7:00 pm (should be done by 8:00pm). We might do a pizza party upstairs from 6:30 to 7:00 pm before the talk. Everyone is encouraged to attend - check your email Monday night/Tuesday morning for more details.
I look forward to a couple days of inspired training and practice at the pool!
****Note to Seniors: make a special effort to get to practice Monday and Tuesday (including am) to get the most out of Bob's visit!
Brent

Eastern Express “Beats the Clock” at Oktoberfest – update from Coach Mike Randazzo
At a meet that arrived before we all turn back our clocks and begin driving to and from practice in the dark, Express swimmers turned back time as most athletes who competed in the weekend competition at Oktoberfest ’09 posted at least four lifetime bests. Nine athletes made their debuts in at least one event: Micah Bergstrom (100 Back), Tess Bodden (100 Fly), Sarah Gulbranson (50,100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, & 50 Fly), Ethan Hatke (100 Fly), Sunna Juhn (100 Back), Patrick Lavery (100 Fly), Shreya Rane (100 Fly), Morgan Sattler (100 Fly), Teddy Slahetka (100 Breast). Congratulations also to new Junior Olympic qualifiers Alan Gao (11-12 50 Breast,) Gwyneth Lavery (10&U 50 Breast) and Jack McIntyre (11-12 100 Free).
Express will be in action again on 10/25 at the SHY Fall Challenge Invitational. Pictures of those who spent their weekend at GCIT are posted below –I’m the one in the middle with the facial hair, although it’s not nearly as noticeable as it was last season.
